Il miglior sondaggio 2: Obama domina nell'early voting

Survey Usa sta pubblicando sondaggi sull'early voting. L'early voting è il voto in anticipo rispetto alla data delle elezioni, che è permesso in molti Stati sia per via postale che tramite la presisposizione di seggi speciali. Secondo le indagini di SUSA, Obama sta andando nettamente meglio nelle indagini sull'early voting che in quelle sulle intenzioni di voto generali. Qui sotto i risultati dei 5 Stati, tutti vinti da Bush nel 2004, che hanno già iniziato le fasi di voto. Tra parentesi è indicato il risultato del sondaggio condotto a livello statale.

Benchè il sample del sondaggio non sia affidabile, è indubbio che valori così elevati di Obama abbiano un significato preciso, la conferma del maggiore entusiasmo nel supporto della sua candidatura. Nel 2000 e nel 2004 il candidato che aveva il maggior supporto della propria base elettorale era George W Bush, che infatti vinse nettamente nell'early voting

Early voters and Election Day voters were compared on the two-party vote choice between George W. Bush and Al Gore in 2000 and Bush and John Kerry in 2004. In our two-week post-election sample in 2000, of those U.S. voters who said they had voted on Election Day, 50.8 percent said they voted for Bush, while 49.2 percent said they voted for Gore. Among early voters, however, 62.2 percent reported voting for Bush compared to 37.8 percent who voted for Gore (Chi-square=8.385, df=1, p<.01). Comparable percentages appeared when the 2000 sample was restricted to those living in the no excuse absentee and early voting states. Similarly, in 2004, those casting their ballots before Election Day were more inclined to vote for Bush over Kerry. While 51.8 percent of Election Day voters supported Bush, 60.4 percent of early voters supported him (Chi-square=5.390, df=1, p<.05). Within the 2004 no excuse absentee and early voting states sample, similar findings were reached.
